Question of the Week 34

by | May 5, 2023 | Journalism, Question of the Day, Question Of the Week

Last Week’s Question:

Which oak tree is the most common in Maine?
A. Red oak
B. Black oak
C. Scarlet oak
D. White oak
E. Bur oak
F. Swamp oak

The answer is “A” – Red oak is by far the most common tree overall. However, in and around Penobscot valley there are a lot of Bur oak trees. Bur oaks have very large leaves, sometimes as long as 12″. Maine’s climate is borderline too cold for oak trees, making oaks rare in northern forests. In fact, Black, Scarlet, White and Swamp oaks are only found in southern Maine.

This week’s Question:

This is an oldie but goodie: What percent of the World’s population lives in the United States?
A. 45%
B. 25%
C. 10%
D. 7%
E. 5%
F. Less than 5%
