Dr. Madsen Pirie received his M.A. in history from Edinburgh University and his Ph. D. in philosophy from the University of St. Andrews. He was Associate Professor of Philosophy at Hillsdale College from 1975 to 1977. Dr. Pirie is the author of Trial and Error and the Idea of Progress and has recently completed The Book of the Fallacy. He is currently the Principal of Adam Smith University (Hillsdale Foreign Study Program). He is a member of The Philadelphia Society and The Mont Pelerin Society.
