Peter H. Gibbon is a research associate at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. The author of numerous articles in such publications as Newsweek, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post, he is currently at work on a book about the disappearance of public heroes in American society. Dr. Gibbon holds degrees from Harvard, Case-Western Reserve University, and Columbia University Teachers College. A longtime teacher and administrator, he has done extensive research on the educational systems of Japan, China, and Germany, and for ten years he served as headmaster of the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York.
