Chuck Schumer recently wrote an op-ed for the New York Times about the Save Act, which is before the Senate. The piece was replete with misinformation, lack of knowledge, and possibly lies.

Schumer claims Americans will be “disenfranchised from voting: THE TRUTH, No American citizen will be unable or not allowed to vote. They will only have to prove they are an American citizen because only citizens are allowed to vote in American elections. Just as only French citizen can vote in French elections and only Germans can vote in German election, etc.

Schumer claims the voter rolls will be taken over by Homeland Security: THE TRUTH, each state will be handling their own voter rolls, as usual!

Schumer claims that a voter may be taken off the rolls without their knowledge and learn of it only when they go to vote. THE TRUTH, it is a law in the U.S. that anyone taken off the voter rolls must be notified.

Schumer claims that voter ID requirements would cause barriers for people, such as newly married women who take their husband’s name. THE TRUTH, she will have to get a new Driver’s License, and the DMV will ask for her marriage certificate. She can get a Real ID to drive, go on a plane, vote, etc. Something that she must do anyway.

Schumer claims that 20 million American citizens “lack the required documents to prove citizenship under the SAVE Act.” THE TRUTH, every person born in the U.S. is given a birth certificate. The only people that don’t have a U.S. ID of citizenship are the people here illegally. And they should not be allowed to vote in U.S. elections.

Schumer claims voter ID will “dismantle” Mail-in voting registration. THE TRUTH, you only must give them proof of who you are once so that no one can take your vote away from you. Does Mr. Schumer think people are too inept to do so?

Why is it that in our lives we have to have an ID to buy cigarettes, alcohol, medicine; to get our mail at the PO; to go into and return from Canada, to prove you may drive a car; to go on a plane, train, or dangerous ride at the Fair; to adopt a dog from the pound; etc.; but Chuck Schumer and the Democrats think it is unconscionable to ask anyone to prove they are a citizen of this country in order to vote. American elections are for Americans. No one else should vote on how our country is run and how much money is spent. Only citizens should be allowed to vote for the people who will run our country. It is uninformed people like Chuck Schumer who are creating very bad policy for America. Our Constitution was written to save our country from self-serving politicians like Chuck Schumer. Don’t fall for his hype, listen to THE TRUTH!
