An illegal alien who has been deported from the United State at least seven times and who has five felony convictions was again deported in November by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after being found attempting to cross the northern border into Vermont.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston removed 41-year-old Honduran national Julio Cesar Hernandez Funez (aka Rodas, Flores Najera) to his home country on Nov. 18.
ICE says that Hernandez was previously deported to Honduras in 2006, 2013, 2014, twice in 2015, once in 2016 and once earlier this year.
“Hernandez is a repeat offender who’s unlawfully entered the United States at least seven times, and he’s committed crimes against innocent people nearly every time,” said ERO Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia Hyde.
“He’s been arrested in multiple states — including in Texas in 2001 — where Border Patrol agents found him hiding in the trunk of a car at a checkpoint,” Hyde said. “He unlawfully entered the United States through Canada in February of this year, and our U.S. Customs and Border Protection partners arrested him in Derby Line, Vermont. ERO Boston removed him last week.”
According to ICE, Hernandez has been convicted of five felonies in the U.S., including for disorderly conduct in 2005, assault and battery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in 2005, entry without inspection in 2012 and driving while intoxicated in 2014.
Most recently, Honduran officials convicted Hernandez of illicit trafficking of drugs and sentenced him to serve four years and six months in prison.
Prior to serving his sentence in Honduras, Hernandez fled the country and attempted to enter the U.S. through the northern border in Vermont.
