State Fire Marshal Investigating Arson at Penobscot Nation Building

INDIAN ISLAND, Maine — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an arson fire that caused significant damage to a building owned by the Penobscot Nation early Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. on July 8 at 4 Wabanaki Way on Indian Island, just outside Old Town.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are working alongside the Penobscot Nation Police Department, Old Town Police Department, and Old Town Fire Department.

The fire has been ruled arson.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the Penobscot Nation Police Department or the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 207-973-3700.
