The top two Boston sports radio nets are taking out all the stops to try to attract ratings.

It’s an eclectic mix, for sure.

On the one hand is 98.5’s host Christopher Gasper reporting on having prostate cancer.

On the other is 93.7’s Meghan Ottolini complaining about the price of gas on her way to Maine.

In the sympathy realm, Gasper clearly has the edge as his fans wish him the best.

No question, it also makes for compelling radio.

Maybe not so much Ottolini and her pump issues.

On its morning drive Greg Hill Show on Tuesday, Ottolini tried telling Hill about the gas prices she was seeing driving up to Maine on Route 1.

But, when she attempted to explain the huge price disparity from one gas station to another, she was attacked and charged with misinterpreting prices.

Not much of a match when it’s Ottolini’s pump complaints vs. Gasper’s fight for survival.

“I love sports, but some things are much bigger than sports,” Gasper said.

Like gas prices. Or Mike Vrabel’s affair, which hopefully Gasper in his role covering the Pats will finally get to once he’s back in the saddle.
