Question of the Week 8

by | Sep 14, 2022 | Journalism, Question of the Day, Question Of the Week

Answer to Last week’s question:

During COVID, we heard a lot from the WHO and CDC and NIH and Wuhan. But strangely, we did not hear much about “You Sam Rid”. Who or What is You Sam Rid?

The answer is “C”. The mission of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, aka You Sam Rid, is “To  protect the Warfighter from biological threats and to be prepared to  investigate disease outbreaks or threats to public health.” Given their  mission, one has to wonder why You Sam Rid was not the federal agency  in charge of, or at least prominently featured in, America’s COVID  response. Could it be that You Sam Rid knows exactly where COVID originated?

A. You Sam Rid is the name of a company that makes  anti viral drugs that rid the body of all viruses.

B. You Sam Rid is the nick name for the University  of Samuel Riddle, a world leader in biological research.

C. You Sam Rid is how people pronounce the acronym  USAMRIID

D. You Sam Rid is  Biden speak for Yousef Raashid,  the Nobel prize winning viral biologist who may have “invented” COVID.

E. You Sam Rid is a miracle disinfectant that  the Army uses when biological agents are deployed on the battlefield.

This Week’s Question:

Flip Flopping politicians are nothing new. What is new is that, once  content is “posted” on the web, it is there, more or less forever. That  means today, it is much easier for a public figure to get caught totally contradicting themselves. Here is an example:  Recently, the audio of a 2006 campaign robocall was “discovered”,  during which the voice of an aspiring politician says: “I’m pro-life, I opposed amnesty for illegal immigrants, I support traditional marriage, and I have never supported a new tax or big spending  program. I support a constitutional amendment  to protect traditional marriage, and I oppose adoption by gay couples,  and I work to ensure the right to display the Ten Commandments in public places.”

Who, back in 2006, made this incredibly insensitive and racist pitch to the voters?

A. Republican Mitt Romney

B. Democrat John Kerry

C. Republican John McCain

D. Democrat Charlie Christ

E. Democrat Hillary Clinton
