The Maine Secretary of State’s Office has announced the results of the two remaining recounts from the June 9 primary election.

In ranked choice elections, only candidates who emerge in the top three at the end of the next-to-last round of tabulation are eligible to request a recount, unlike non-ranked choice elections where any unsuccessful candidate may do so.

A recount was requested for the House District 49 Republican primary by Nicolas Hamlin of West Bath after Suzanne Andresen of West Bath was declared the winner by an 8-vote margin.

Andresen remained the winner of the race with 608 votes, a 6-vote lead over Hamlin’s final tally of 602.

District 49 is currently represented by Representative Allison Hepler (D-Woolwich).

Also completed was a recount for the Democratic primary in House District 135, as requested by Rachel Phipps of Kennebunk after Lisa Pratt, also of Kennebunk, was declared the winner by a 19-vote margin.

Pratt again prevailed following the recount with 1,151 votes in her favor, an 18-vote lead over Phipps’ final tally of 1,133.

District 135 is currently represented by Daniel Sayre (D-Kennebunk) who did not seek reelection.

Last week, a recount was held for Senate District 30 at the request of Rep. Ellie Sato of Gorham after Rep. Sophia Warren of Scarborough won the Democratic primary by a margin of just 29 votes.

Senate District 30 is currently represented by Sen. Stacy Brenner who did not seek reelection this year.

After the recount, Rep. Warren was still found to be the winner, this time by a margin of 31 votes.

The final vote tallies were 3,838 for Warren and 3,807 for Rep. Sato.
