The fire involves a three-story building in the area of 129 Atlantic Avenue, according to initial reports from the scene.

Atlantic Avenue has been shut down entirely as crews work the active fire. Multiple mutual aid agencies have responded as firefighters try to keep the flames from spreading to nearby homes in the dense beach neighborhood.

There was no immediate word on injuries, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.

Public safety officials are urging people to avoid the Wells Beach area so roads remain clear for incoming fire apparatus, ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
