Platner's "Platform" is presented in most of his supporting reports as if he would have any serious political position in the US senate, were he to be elected. Were he to be elected, however, he'd be a very junior senator, assigned to unimportant senate committees, with very limited power and almost no capability of bringing programs (and money) to Maine that would benefit his Maine followers..
To function, even minimally, he'd have to become a subservient player in the teams of senior Dem senators ,like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, and he'd have to be a very obedient, good boy. Doesn't sound like the angry, no restraint, Graham Platner we see on the campaign trail.
Platner's major election dynamic is anger projected at nebulous conservative political figures and the equally nebulous rich and powerful. He speaks to an angry grassroots that is hurting and upset, but which doesn't know the cause of their hurt. Scapegoats deflect from the real causes, which are very simply the impact of progressive policies of Maine's government trifecta- Governor, House, Senate that have dominated Maine politics, raised taxes continuously, created an unfriendly business atmosphere, destroyed public education and impoverished the working and middle classes.
Essentially, Platner avoids mention of the years of Maine Democrat political policies that are the root causes of grassroots frustration and anger. He calls for an intensification of policies that are causing the pain in his constituents. It's essentially: Pour more gas on the out-of-control Democrat fires!
Those of us who oppose Platner have work to do. A very clear reality check for his voter base is badly needed. We do not need more and bigger calls for Maine Dem policies that have demonstrably failed.
Must stop the pouring of gas on destructive Dem fires! And Platner is the political "arsonist in chief".
