Monday afternoon, Tyler Brown should have been in prison. But instead, he was a free man walking down the middle of busy Memorial Drive and blasting away at vehicles and pedestrians. This atrocity proved, yet again, that certain Rules of Life are immutable. The fools running Massachusetts and other Blue states are learning that ignoring the Rules comes at a high price.
Background: The shooter, Tyler Brown, has a LONG criminal record. Just six years ago, he emptied his Glock 40 at two Boston cops at close range. It was a miracle neither officer was killed. Brown was subsequently convicted of numerous crimes including, attempted murder of a cop. Monday, Brown fired 50-60 shots at cars, many of them stopped. Two drivers were critically wounded. About a dozen vehicles had to be towed from the sense. The carnage was finally stopped with the help of a good Samaritan with a gun. Brown was shot multiple times.
Rule #1: The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is for good guys to have guns. In this case the good guys were a cop and an armed civilian. Based on the video I found on line (which is not the video linked to most stories), either the cop or the Samaritan was able to get behind Brown and shoot him. That took a lot of balls. Confronting an assailant with a semi-automatic rifle while armed with only a pistol is a distinctly scary proposition. Related Rules: Never bring a knife to a gun fight. Never bring a pistol to a rifle fight.
Rule #2: Outlawing guns means only outlaws will have guns. Massachusetts has made legally owning a gun all but impossible. In addition, as a felon, Brown is a “prohibited person, meaning, by federal law, he cannot legally buy or even possess firearms. The key word here is legally. Brown is a criminal. To him, laws are merely annoying suggestions. Despite all the laws, Brown was able to get ahold of a semi-automatic long gun. He then used the rifle to shoot people thereby breaking another law: It is illegal to shoot people.
Rule #3: Tigers do not change their stripes. Brown is a dangerous man. He proved that TWICE before yesterday’s attack. Remember when shooting at cops would have landed you in jail for life? That is, if you survived being arrested. Today, liberal policies and liberal judges are giving vicious tigers like Brown a slap on the wrist, thereby making our World more dangerous. If Brown had been in Florida the first time he shot at cops, he would still be in jail, just like Mr. Cabrera.
LAKELAND, Fla. — A Florida man who shot at federal agents and police while leading them on a chase on I-4 back in 2022 will spend 38 years in prison. In a press conference, the Lakeland Police Department and other state officials announced that 29-year-old Francisco Cabrera will serve his sentence in federal prison. (Given his age, 38 years is essentially a life sentence- RLP)
