A Raymond driver suffered serious injuries on Thursday after she allegedly crashed head-on into a school bus in Westbrook.

At approximately 8:32 a.m., the Westbrook Police Department and Westbrook Fire Department responded to reports of a crash on Bridgton Road near the town line with Windham.

A caller reported that a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek traveling eastbound crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Windham school bus.

Fire personnel extracted the Subaru’s driver and sole occupant and identified her as a 25-year-old woman from Raymond.

She was transported to the Maine Medical Center for treatment for serious injuries.

Luckily, the school bus was unoccupied except for the driver, who was identified as a 72-year-old Raymond man.

He was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Bridgeton Road remained closed for hours as local police and the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division investigated the crash.

Police did not name either driver or provide any details on the potential cause.
