Ex-GMA Host Joan Lunden Makes Swing Through Maine Amid Book Tour Exposing The Seedy Side

An ex-network TV queen who says she got pushed out for a younger version is hawking a new memoir with a stop in Maine.

“Back in one of our favorite places, Naples Maine, and how could we not stop for a bowl of chowder and a Maine lobster roll?” Joan Lunden posted on Facebook.

Lunden also put up a picture of an evening overlooking the lake in the western part of the state.

“Sunsets over Long Lake in Naples, Maine are breathtaking, as the sun slips behind the White Mountains,” she commented.

Lunden, 75, is on a book tour promoting a memoir about some of the troubled times she had in front of – and behind – the camera on ABC-TV.

Among the stories she tells in “Life Beyond The Script” is being propositioned by a news executive at the beginning of her career in New York City.

Lunden says she refused the man’s advances after which her stories were pulled from the air, only to regain her momentum when she threatened him with a sexual-harassment lawsuit.

The book-tour headlines are pegged mostly on that incident – a great controversy to sell more copies.

Lunden previously has talked about getting pushed off her 17-year run on Good Morning America for a younger replacement.

So despite all the fake smiles on the shows, there was a apparently lot more going on behind the cameras.
