Two-Foot-Long, Two-Pound, $180 ‘Lobzilla Roll,’ Named For Its Maine Precursor, Makes A Splash In Connecticut

A Connecticut businessman is celebrating a seafood joint he just bought by offering a whopper of a lobster roll that he admits owes its reputation to a similar Maine clawbster.

The Clam Castle in Madison, Connecticut came under new ownership earlier this year, announcing the celebratory spring debut April 15 of the giant $180 lobster roll, “Lobzilla.”

Social media went nuts over the heavy-duty lobster roll, according to Susan Braden, staff writer at CtInsider.com.

Bunny Probus ordered the five rolls – at $180 each – on the phone after her daughter called her, gushing about the massive lobster roll she saw on a social media post, Probus said.

“We all love lobsters,” Probus said while waiting in line to pay. “I said, ‘Let this be a once in a lifetime treat.’ Life is too short.”

Shack owner Dave Donahue said he came up with Lobzilla after visiting a Maine seafood joint that claimed it had the world’s biggest lobster roll, at 2 feet.

But Dave claims the Maine roll “only” had 1.5 pounds of lobster whereas his weighs in at 2 pounds.

Soon it’ll be Lobstah Wars – 1.5 vs. 2.

They’ll be clawing over this til the end!

May the best Lobzilla win.🦞
