Poulton Responds to Allgrove

To Bethany and anyone else who may be confused as to the Iranian nuclear issue:

In my story, I asked a simple question: Should Iran be allowed to have nuclear weapons?  To me, the answer is easy: NO. Perhaps some of you think that decision should be left up to the people who run Iran. I guess that is a fair position to take. But IMO, the people who ran Iran (religious fanatics) have demonstrated beyond any doubt that they will use, or cause to be used, all means available to kill infidels. Want some examples? How about suicide vests, passenger jets, and IEDs like the truck bombs that killed 220 marines in Beirut .

Based on testimony by the International Atomic Energy Agency*, and by the Iranians themselves, Iran is close to having a bomb. I agree with President Trump that allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons is unacceptable. That is the issue on the table today.

From Google AI: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), established in 1957 and headquartered in Vienna, Austria, is the world's central intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear technology. It works with member states to promote safe, secure, and sustainable nuclear applications while verifying through inspections that nuclear materials are not diverted to weapons.
