Portland Police on Tuesday arrested a homeless man who had 18 outstanding warrants for his arrest, including for four felony counts and 19 drug-related charges. Police say that shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, an officer patrolling the area of Congress Square Park recognized an individual who had multiple warrants out for his arrest. The officer approached the subject, identified as 46-year-old Kabir Geiger, an “unhoused” man, and took him into custody without incident. According to Portland Police, six different agencies had warrants out for Geiger’s arrest, including Portland, Westbrook, South Portland, Gorham, the Maine State Police and the CSX Railroad Police. Four of the warrants were for felony-level offenses, including robbery, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer with priors, trafficking in prison contraband and unlawful possession of methamphetamine with priors. Police say there were also 19 separate drug-related charges against Geiger. Geiger was transported to the Cumberland County Jail. Booking and bail information were not available on Wednesday morning.
