A report of shots fired in the Town of Paris on Wednesday led to a high-speed police chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies and the arrest of a Massachusetts man, the Maine State Police announced Thursday.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Oxford County Regional Communications Center received a report of several shots fired on Park Street in Paris.
Maine State Police say a trooper in the area responded to the scene to assist and observed a blue SUV leaving the immediate area.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in West Paris, but police say the driver refused to pull over, resulting in a high-speed pursuit during which multiple law enforcement agencies from Oxford and Androscoggin counties assisted.
The vehicle was ultimately stopped by the deployment of a spike mat across the road, and it crashed into a field on Route 26 in Mechanic Falls, ending the pursuit.
Police say all four occupants of the vehicle were transported to Central Maine Medical Center. One of the passengers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and the other two passengers were treated and released.
Two firearms were recovered following the pursuit, police said.
The driver, 24-year-old Luis Andres Lorenzo Rondon of Lawrence, Mass., was arrested and charged with eluding an officer, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger and criminal speeding.
Rondon was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.
According to Maine State Police, no injuries were reported in connection to the shots fired incident in Paris.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, State Police said Thursday morning.
