A Massachusetts man was arrested in Auburn this week after being found by police in possession of cocaine, fentanyl, a firearm and over $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Auburn Police announced on Wednesday that their Proactive Community Enforcement (PACE) Unit had been investigating suspected drug trafficking activity taking place at 114 Hampshire St. in Auburn.

On Tuesday, officers working on the investigation observed a suspect leave the residence at about 6:45 p.m. and enter a vehicle.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being used as a ride share vehicle for Uber, and identified the rear seat passenger as 20-year-old Jaysin Pedro Selter-Luna of Dorchester, Mass.

Selter-Luna was found in possession of a loaded Kimber 9mm handgun with the serial number ground off. A further search of Selter-Luna’s person resulted in the seizure of 28 grams of cocaine, 54 grams of fentanyl powder, spare loaded magazines for the firearm, a digital scale, packaging material and over $1,100 cash in suspected drug proceeds.

Police say Selter-Luna could not produce any identification and refused to provide his name verbally to investigators, but that his identity was later confirmed while he was being booked at the Androscoggin County Jail.

A subsequent search of the 114 Hampshire St. residence yielded additional drugs and ammunition, which were seized by police.

Selter-Luna is facing two counts of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, one count of criminal simulation for possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, one count of carrying a concealed weapon as he is under 21 years of age, and one count of failing to provide his name, address and date of birth to a law enforcement officer.

Police say the drug trafficking charges were elevated to aggravated trafficking due to Selter-Luna being in possession of a firearm and his proximity to Chestnut Street Park, a designated safe zone by the City of Auburn.

Auburn Police thanked the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for their assistance in their investigation, which they say is ongoing and may potentially result in additional charges.
