The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department executed a massive drug bust on Gagnon Road in Fairfield early Friday morning, leading to the arrests of six people and the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal drugs.
The Sheriff’s Department secured a search warrant for the Gagnon Rd. residence based on suspicion that it was being used to sell and distribute illegal drugs.
A large team of law enforcement agents led by Detective Lieutenant Gottardi, including five Sheriff’s Department detectives, five deputies, and assistance from the Waterville and Fairfield Police Departments, conducted the raid at 5:45 a.m. and discovered seven individuals on the premises, along with significant contraband.
Law enforcement seized over 53 grams of fentanyl — enough to kill thousands of people, an unspecified small amount of methamphetamine, “controlled pills,” digital scales, drug packaging materials, drug-related documentation and paraphernalia, and $7,725 in suspected drug money.
They also arrested and charged six of the seven individuals on the premises and warned that additional charges could follow for those arrested and other individuals, possibly the uncharged individual, though he remained unnamed. The Sheriff’s department did not specify why he was not charged.
The arrested individuals include:
- Adam Knight, 53, of Fairfield: Charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) with a $50,000 cash bail.
- Tina Boutin, 44, of Fairfield: Charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) with a $50,000 cash bail.
- Dwayne Holmes, 58, of Waterville: Charged With Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (Class A) with a $5,000 cash bail. He was also charged on an outstanding arrest warrant from Kennebec County for Failure to Appear on the charge of Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs.
- Crystal Cougle, 32, of St. Albans: Arrested on five outstanding arrest warrants from Kennebec and Penobscot Counties for Failure to Appear on charges of Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs, Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs, Violation of Conditions of Release, Theft, and Unpaid Fine(s).
- Thomas Brooks, 36, of Skowhegan: Arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant from Kennebec County for Failure to Appear on the charge of Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs.
- Melissa Witham, 37, of Rome: Arrested on an outstanding warrant from Kennebec County for Failure to Appear on the charge of Theft.
