Oxford Sheriff’s Office Busts Large Black Market Marijuana Growing Operation in Dixfield

by Seamus Othot | Mar 17, 2025

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Department conducted a raid on a large-scale illegal marijuana operation in Dixfield on Friday, seizing over 1,600 illegally cultivated plants.

The Sheriff’s Department procured a search warrant after receiving information that a house on Porter Rd. in Dixfield had been converted into an illegal marijuana grow site.

The address — 142 Porter Rd. — has been on the radar of federal law enforcement since at least 2023, according to a list of addresses in Maine affiliated with Asian Transnational Criminal Organizations (ATCO) generated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The existence of that list was first reported in August 2023, but The Maine Wire subsequently obtained a copy of the addresses themselves last year.

The raid did not result in any arrests.

According to county property records, 142 Porter Rd. is owned by Yiwen Chen, a 38-year-old from Boston, Mass.

When the authorities arrived, they found the property unoccupied but discovered over 23 pounds of processed marijuana along with 1,647 marijuana plants.

Local and federal authorities joined in the operation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
