Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents from the Calais station apprehended a group of illegal immigrants after encountering a suspicious van on March 5 in Maine’s Houlton border sector.
Agents from the Calais station encountered a suspicious black passenger van with several people inside.
They discovered that five of the passengers were allegedly in the U.S. illegally and charged them with Alien Inadmissibility. The alleged illegal immigrants were transferred to the CBP’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), where they will be processed for removal.
The press release provided scant details on the operation and did not disclose the nationality of the alleged illegal immigrants or explain what raised the suspicion of the agents.
The Maine Wire reached out for additional details, but CBP did not immediately respond to an emailed request and was not able to answer questions over the phone.
