Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Somerset County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 531 Madawaska Rd. in Palmyra.

Deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and discovered a deceased male inside of the residence.

State police have now identified the victim as 28-year-old Jaquan Humphries of Mattapan, Mass, who police say had been living at the Palmyra residence.

His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where after an autopsy his cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

The manner of Humphries’ death has been ruled a homicide.
