Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car Outside of Portland’s Homeless Services Center

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle outside of Portland’s Homeless Services Center, Portland Police announced on Monday.

Police say they responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at 7:25 p.m. on Sunday in the area of 654 Riverside Street, the address of the city’s Homeless Services Center.

A car driven by a 26-year-old Portland man struck a 37-year-old Portland man who was walking in the roadway, police said.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Portland Police Department and its crash reconstruction team are investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed as of Monday morning.
