A man previously arrested for a stabbing in Portland is now being accused of trying to grab, kiss and give alcohol to a 13-year-old girl who was walking home in Westbrook on Wednesday.
Westbrook Police say they received a call at about 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday from a citizen reporting that an unknown male had “grabbed a 13-year-old family member by the shoulders and attempted to kiss them, while the victim was walking home.”
The male suspect also allegedly offered the minor victim alcohol.
Police say that although the juvenile was able to break free from the male suspect and make it home, the male suspect followed the victim to her residence, and was “still trying to make advances.”
The party who initially called the police was at the home, confronted the male suspect, and remained with the suspect until the police arrived shortly after.
The police investigation led to the arrest of the male suspect, 26-year-old Antonio Henriques for assault and violating conditions of release, a charge police say stems from another unrelated case.
Despite the caller reporting to police that the suspect and victim were family members, police say Henriques and the victim did not know each other, nor had they had any prior interactions before the Wednesday incident.
Henriques was previously arrested and charged with felony elevated aggravated assault in October 2023 for allegedly stabbing a man multiple times in Portland, near the Elena’s Way homeless shelter on Portland Street.
Police described Henriques as a Portland resident.
