Auburn Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in the Grove Street neighborhood Sunday evening after a verbal confrontation between several juveniles in an apartment building.

Police responded to Grove Street shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday for a report of several shots fired, and began canvassing the area to look for anyone who might have been involved.

Grove Street was temporarily closed while investigators searched the area and interviewed witnesses.

Police found several shell casings on the ground, and rounds that had struck an apartment building on Grove Street.

A witness inside the building reported to investigators that a verbal confrontation between several juveniles had taken place inside the apartment building.

The juveniles were reportedly kicked out of the apartment just moments before the first shots were fired, police said.

“Thankfully there are no reported injuries as a result of this incident,” Auburn Police stated late Sunday evening. “This investigation remains active, and we will update the public when more information is available.”

Just over a month ago, Auburn Police began investigating another shooting that reportedly involved a group of teenagers.

As in this case, responding officers at the December shooting found shell casings and damage to a building, but the group of teenagers allegedly involved in the shooting had fled the area prior to the arrival of the officers.
