Two tractor trailers crashed on I-95 in York Thursday afternoon, resulting in serious injuries to the driver of one trailer after the vehicle rolled over.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Maine State Troopers responded to the scene of the crash at Exit 7 southbound on I-95 shortly after 5:40 p.m. on Thursday.

The crash involved two tractor trailer units, one of which rolled over and was blocking two lanes of the highway. Traffic was slightly backed up due to lane closures.

The trailer unit that rolled over was a water tanker operated by 64-year-old Larry Roberge of Waterboro.

Roberge was taken to Portsmouth Hospital with serious injuries.

The second tractor trailer was operated by Konstantin Volikov, 40, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, who was not injured in the crash.

Moss announced Thursday evening that the crash is still under investigation.

The Maine State Police were assisted in their response by their Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, the York Police Department, York Fire Department, Maine Turnpike Maintenance and National Wrecker Service.
