Law enforcement seized a large quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, meth and other illegal drugs, as well as seven firearms during a search of a residence in Hiram that led to the arrest of a previously convicted felon on drug trafficking charges.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for 931 Tripptown Rd. in the Town of Hiram on Tuesday, Dec. 31, in connection to deputies’ ongoing investigation into potential illegal drugs and stolen property at the residence.
Oxford County deputies searched the Hiram residence at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday alongside agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine State Police.
During the search, deputies found a total of 143.6 grams of cocaine, 33.1 grams of fentanyl, 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, 59 doses of Suboxone and 10 Oxycodone pills, in addition to other items related to the manufacture of cocaine base (crack cocaine) and methamphetamine.
Seven firearms were also seized during the search, as well as one stolen chainsaw.
Mark O’Brien, 37, of Hiram, was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs, two counts of furnishing schedule W drugs, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of firearms by a prohibited person.
O’Brien was transported to the Oxford County Jail where he was held on $50,000 bail.
