The Maine State Police are investigating a homicide that is tied to the location of a former illegal Chinese marijuana grow in Turner, near the defunct Twitchell-Turner-Auburn Airport.
According to a source who asked to remain anonymous, the Maine State Police (MSP) have asked at least one Turner property owner for security camera footage from the first week of December. It was disclosed during that process that they were investigating a homicide that involved a large building on Conant Road.
A law enforcement official subsequently confirmed for the Maine Wire that a homicide did occur at 57 Conant Road in Turner, that it was related to drug trafficking, and that the victim is a white male.
Incident reports obtained by the Maine Wire indicate that police suspected in March 2021 that the location—at 57 Conant Road—was under the control of a “Chinese gang” from New York.
Office of Cannabis Policy records reviewed by the Maine Wire also point toward the location as a significant nexus for Chinese organized crime during the time that it was owned by Green Future LLC.
The property owner who was asked for CCTV footage said that the responding MSP officers revealed the body was found in Westbrook.
The law enforcement official said it’s believed that the victim was involved in an attempted robbery at the former Chinese marijuana grow.
The MSP has not officially disclosed the homicide or the homicide investigation.
Records obtained by the Maine Wire show the facility at that address was owned for a time by Green Future LLC, a company connected to two medical marijuana growers who have lost their licenses, Jung “Jason” Yen Tsai, of Greene, and Yen “Johnny” Hsein Wu, of Lewiston.
Since that time, the property has changed hands and its ownership has become the subject of foreclosure and legal disputes involving Green Future LLC director Ganggang “George” Zheng and other illegal marijuana grow locations once controlled by the shell company.
Turner property records currently list the owner of the property as Huan Zhou, of Ellicott City, Maryland, the director of Grace Garden LLC.
