The Associated Press’ post-election AP VoteCast poll has revealed that female voters with an affinity for felines — a.k.a. “Cat Ladies” — were the only demographic of pet owners to support Vice President Kamala Harris over President-elect Donald Trump.
The AP analysis would seem to vindicate Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s analysis during the campaign that the Democratic Party is essentially run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies.”
Throughout Vice President Harris’s failed campaign, liberal media and left-wing politicians attempted to dub Vice President-electVance as “weird” in part because of the cat lady quip.
Many of the Democrats’ efforts focused on a resurfaced clip of then-Ohio Sen. Vance condemning the current administration by comparing it to a group of childless women who have redirected their maternal impulses into feline obsessions.
“We are effectively run, in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they’ve made, and do they want to make the rest of the country miserable too,” said Vance.
The AP poll found that 59 percent of women who owned only cats voted for Harris and claimed that “most” of the cat-owning women interviewed had an unfavorable opinion of Vance.
Female cat-only pet owners were the only demographic of pet owners to support Harris over Trump.
Male cat owners voted 52 percent for Trump, and women who owned cats and dogs also voted 52 percent for Trump. Additionally, the same percentage of female dog owners supported Trump.
Ultimately, 52 percent of all pet owners supported Trump, compared with 47 percent who voted for Harris.
Interestingly, the poll found that roughly two-thirds of people who voted in 2024 were pet owners.
While the AP poll does not cross-reference cat ownership with childlessness, other data show that a significant majority, 59 percent, of unmarried women voted for Harris.
