New Hampshire State Police arrested two men on Friday during a routine traffic stop after they allegedly attempted to throw large quantities of fentanyl and crack cocaine from their vehicle.

State Troopers were conducting a routine traffic stop for speeding in Portsmouth when a passenger, identified as 43-year-old Raymundo DeJesus of Haverhill, Massachusetts, allegedly threw bags out of the window in an apparent attempt to conceal them from the police.

DeJesus was allegedly caught trying to conceal the bags on the state trooper’s dashboard camera.

He believed that the bag contained narcotics, and the State Police Narcotics Investigations Unit (NIU) identified and seized over 200 grams of fentanyl and approximately 200 grams of crack cocaine.

Law enforcement identified the driver as 33-year-old Andres Carpio, also of Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Officers arrested both DeJesus and Carpio on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, a felony that can carry a 30-year prison sentence and a $500,000 fine for first-time offenders.

DeJesus faces an additional charge of falsifying physical evidence.

They are scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court on January 27, 2024, and were released on personal recognizance.

State police say that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may follow.

The official press release did not provide any information on the suspects’ immigration status.
