Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham penned a letter to President-Elect Donald Trump on Tuesday, offering to give his incoming administration 1,402 acres of land along the border for the construction of deportation facilities.

“My office is fully prepared to enter into an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, or the United States Border Patrol to allow a facility to be built for the processing, detention, and coordination of the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation’s history,” said Commissioner Buckingham.

“I am committed to using every available means at my disposal to gain complete operational security of our border,” he added.

The land is a 2.19-square-mile ranch in Texas’ Starr County along the southern border, west of McAllen, Texas.

The Texas Land Commission took control of the land from its previous owner after she refused to allow it to be used to construct a border wall and denied law enforcement access.

Buckingham claimed that the previous owner’s refusal to comply with law enforcement allowed cartel members and others in the country illegally to abuse women and children on the ranch.

Since the Land Commission took control of the ranch, Buckingham has approved the construction of a 1.45-mile-long section of border wall on the property.

The land is part of the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector, which has seen roughly 1.4 million border crossing encounters since President Joe Biden took office in 2021.

President Trump has promised to take a hard line against illegal immigration, confirming on Monday that he plans to declare a state of emergency and use military assets to conduct mass deportations.

Neither Trump nor his hardline Border Czar choice, Tom Homan, has responded to Buckingham’s offer.
