A Scarborough man who was found passed out in his car at a Portland gas station was arrested after the police discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and a handgun, Portland Police announced Monday.

Portland Police responded to the Rusty Lantern convenience store and gas station at 2282 Congress St. shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, for a report of a man passed out in his vehicle as the gas pumps.

Police say that upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old James Selberg Stross of Scarborough passed out in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle, with a handgun in his lap.

Officers removed the handgun from Stross’ lap before waking him up and beginning their investigation, police said.

During their investigation, police discovered that Stross was in possession of 31.54 grams of methamphetamine, 5.04 grams of black tar heroin, 4.43 grams of fentanyl, 3.13 grams of cocaine, as well as various other drugs, paraphernalia and $954 in cash.

Stross was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm, Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs, Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl Powder, two counts of Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs (W) and Operating while License Suspended or Revoked.

He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he remains in custody as of Monday morning.
