DOGE Backlash Grows: Embarrassing Government Spending Exposed

by Phil Osifer | Oct 31, 2024

The contrived backlash to “DOGE” revelations about indiscriminate government spending on various non-essential and special-interest causes becomes more embarrassing as the list of difficult-to-defend expenditures lengthens. Americans of all political persuasions should be appalled at the proliferation of authorizations clearly unworthy of public scrutiny. It’s apparent that various members of Congress and random undisclosed “deep state” causes have benefited from the absence of agency fiscal transparency. Our government has had a long-standing tendency to resist fact-finding. Only now are records concerning the Kennedy assassination, Epstein private island retreat, and other purported impropriety and scandalous conduct finally coming to light. We still know nothing of consequence about the unsuccessful shooter of our current President. Government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” is disingenuous if pertinent information about consequential events is withheld from the public. One media slogan, “we report, you decide,” should apply to government unless constrained by legitimate security concerns. Phil Osifer
