Is American Exceptionalism Fading Amid Global Chaos and Massive Migration?

by Phil Osifer | Sep 5, 2024

Treason is defined as “the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or his family.” Is there anything more treasonous than a deliberate political effort by our elected officials to subvert the Constitution? The present federal administration and its would-be successor openly condone and promote unfettered illegal entry to any and all comers desiring entry to and residence in the United States. American exceptionalism is at stake in a world of contrasts, conflicts and change resulting from dramatically increased mobility over the past century. Our social order and governance are threatened by dramatically increased hordes of newcomers with unknown behavioral backgrounds and problematic knowledge of our foundational language and history. The rights and obligations of citizenship must be learned to become generationally inherited. Border control is essential to America’s future as an exemplary and sustainable nation. A continued indiscriminate influx at the rate of the past four years is both unsustainable and debilitating – by imposing unprecedented and costly assimilation demands for housing, education, employment and law enforcement. The path to citizenship is not a rightful racetrack, but an earned and measured progression based on meritorious conduct and commitment. Phil Osifer
