Portland Shooting Ruled a Homicide After Gray Woman Dies from Gunshot Wound

One of the four victims that was hospitalized after a Tuesday evening shooting on Forest Avenue in Portland has died from a gunshot wound, and her death was ruled a homicide by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), Portland Police announced Wednesday.

Susan McHugh, 54, of Gray, was identified by police as one of the four people that were injured in the shooting that occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday near Morrill’s Corner.

According to Portland Police, McHugh was transported from the scene to Maine Medical Center following the shooting, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

An autopsy performed by OCME confirmed that McHugh died from a gunshot wound, and her death has been ruled a homicide.

Police said on Wednesday that they will not be releasing any further details on the other victims of the shooting at this time.

No arrests in connection to the shooting have been made.

Portland Police have said that they “don’t believe there is any threat to the public at this time,” and are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything possibly related to the shooting to call investigators at (207) 874-8575.
