Our Resources
Most of us have regular home trash and debris collection, but few really know where our waste streams eventually lead. How much and what is recycled, processed, incinerated, landfilled, or winds up in water? Are we achieving desirable results from the standpoint of environmental guardianship?
Government disposition of its collected taxes deserves similar investigation. To what extent might American taxpayers be contributing to a profligate charitable organization? Should the public condone aid to hostile foreign nations, offshore medical research on viruses, domestic student loan forgiveness, and special-interest technological initiatives? Is there good reason for proposing broad tax increases in a context of declining purchasing power, unprecedented indebtedness, uncontrolled immigration, and increasing lawlessness? With many parties scrambling for crumbs, is anyone scrutinizing the entire pie? Is our present state of democratic governance capable of figuring out more prudent resource allocation, or do we really need a benevolent dictator?
