Doomsday Clock 2024 update

by | Apr 15, 2024 | Opinion

Two months ago, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists left the Doomsday clock at 90 seconds to midnight. Issued with the following headline. “A moment of historic danger” then continued with,” It is still 90 seconds to midnight. Ominous trends continue to point the world toward global catastrophe. The war in Ukraine and the widespread and growing reliance on nuclear weapons increase the risk of nuclear escalation. China, Russia, and the United States are all spending huge sums to expand or modernize their nuclear arsenals, adding to the ever-present danger of nuclear war through mistake or miscalculation.”

How could the clock stay the same? Since the clock was advanced in 2023, the West has continued pouring arms into the Ukrainian conflict. With our close support, Russian naval ships have been sunk and Moscow has been attacked. An increasingly threatened and embarrassed Putin is openly contemplating the use of nuclear weapons. Russia and China have united against the U.S.

The latest update does not address the attack on Israel or the collapse of Haiti’s government. An escalating war in the Middle East has now turned into a regional conflict with a nuclear threat. A failed country in our hemisphere, another 1956 Cuba, brings long term risks as our government fails to address that conflict and someone (China) could fill that vacuum.

Our leaders continue stumbling and bumbling the world towards vastly escalated conflicts with a weakened United States. We have the most inept and corrupt government in our history. Our military leadership has collapsed under the weight of Social Engineering. We are still spending huge resources on political investigations and show trials. We are watching our leaders sleepwalking towards the next World War; as our country is being crushed by inflation, open borders, domestic and foreign organized crime, and manufactured political and social crises. We, as a country, should carefully consider how we lost our way and now find ourselves at this level of risk. Currently all that is left for us is to prepare and pray. God Bless America.

Maine Electric Rates: Legislative Failures and Consumer Burden

About a year ago The Maine Anchor published an interview with Jim LaBrecque who gave a history of why Maine has such high electric rates. The question is, did the 131st, Democratically controlled legislature do anything for the people of Maine, or did they represent special interest groups with their hand in your pocket?
