The ostensibly non-partisan organization GovTrack, which seeks to educate the public on congressional politics, has confirmed to Fox News that it deleted its 2019 post about Vice President Kamala Harris, which ranked her as the most liberal senator of the year.
The Orwellian re-writing of history comes as several media outlets are now issuing new, more positive reports about Harris — even reports that contradict their earlier reporting on her — in light of her status as the presumptive 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.
“We determined that the limited data available in a single year was not sufficient to create a reliable portrait of the activity of legislators, particularly given the ebbs and flows of the legislative calendar, and therefore did not serve as a useful tool to our users and the American public,” GovTrack founder Joshua Tauberer told Fox. “We subsequently took down the previously-published single-calendar-year statistics for the same reason.”
Despite GovTrack’s attempts to remove its old assessment of Vice President Harris, the webpage remains readily available through the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, which preserves old webpages.
Harris’s position as the most liberal senator of 2019 is not the only piece of information on the now-deleted page that her presidential campaign would likely prefer remain unknown.
GovTrack determined that, in 2019, Harris signed onto fewer bipartisan bills than any other senator and found that she seemingly neglected her congressional duties by being absent from a staggering 61.9 percent of 2019’s Senate votes.
Even GovTrack’s current page on Harris, which considers her entire tenure in Congress, shows that Harris is a radically far-left politician.
Only two senators, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), were ranked as more liberal than Harris over the course of their terms in office.
The GovTrack rankings suggest that, if Harris is ultimately elected to the presidency, her administration could stray even further left than President Joe Biden’s administration.
GovTrack is far from the only organization that has sought to alter information in Harris’s favor.
Earlier this week, mainstream media outlets, including Axios, penned articles claiming that Republicans were falsely labeling Harris the “border czar” in an attempt to pin President Biden’s unprecedented border crisis on her.
Despite explicitly denying that Harris was the “border czar” or that she was in charge of the border crisis, Axios itself had previously referred to Harris in those exact terms.
